Black Toetoe On White 10cm Bowl
I am interested in the medicinal properties of plants, especially as they have been used by indigenous peoples around the world. In this series I am exploring Maori use of plants endemic to New Zealand. This porcelain bowl features a drawing of a Toetoe which is one of New Zealand's native grasses. Medicinally it has been used to treat burns, for diarrhoea and to stem the flow of bleeding.
Technical information:
Made from white porcelain, inside semi-gloss clear glaze with decal and unglazed outside.
Size 10cm diameter x 2.8cm high Ë each piece comes boxed with an image of the design on the lid.
These pieces feature irregularities in both shape and form; this is part of the organic nature of the collection.
Designed in New Zealand by Jo Luping.
