JianFeng Li silver-mounted violin bow, Ningbo, China

This elegantly made, silver-mounted violin bow, stamped “JF Lee”, is made by prize-winning archetier JianFeng Li, who studied with the prominent American bow maker John Norwood Lee before establishing his own studio in the north-eastern Chinese port city of Ningbo. His bows have won prizes in international bow-making competitions and this bow is a fine example of his best work. The well-selected pernambuco stick sits very steadily on the string during fast legato strokes, articulates very clearly, and has a ready, crisp spiccato and sautillé. This bow would suit an advanced student or professional player. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the maker.
