Hard-wearing urethane is low on odour, won't mark flooring and has less bounce than rubber plates. The stainless steel centre ring provides a durable wear surface between the plate and the bar. It is a completely different material from rubber, and offers several advantages compared to rubber. It is more fracture resistant, meaning the plates resist fatigue a lot longer than a traditional rubber bumper plate.
