Pioneered by Ascension at Matakana, Pinotage is a rare & fascinating cross of two French grape varieties –
Pinot Noir from Burgandy and Cinsault from the Rhone Valley. Known as the “great grape of South Africa"
yet also perfectly suited to our hillside vineyard – it is dry and medium bodied with supple ripe tannins
and flavours & aromas of ripe cherries, spice and toasted vanilla.
