A note on price: We make and sell Neutral Base Spirit to support home distillers – but as a distillery we must charge excise duty as it leaves our premises. As of 1 July 2025, the Excise Duty and GST on a bottle of Neutral base Spirit is over $33. We cut the price to the bone for NBS but the post-COVID inflation and associated tax increases have put us in the position of needing to charge – which we are well aware is more than some gins. There is 40% more alcohol in a bottle of our NBS than a typical bottle of gin and so that extra excise tax is what causes the price difference.
