About these pangahono pikitia -

These picture puzzles are designed to help tamariki (and adults too!) use phonics to sound out words in Te Reo Māori, in a fun and engaging way. Words are broken up in different ways to help you sound out kupu Māori e.g. tu/na, a/re/wha/na.

Each puzzle is made up of 2, 3 or 4 self-correcting pieces. They feature bold letters and beautiful illustrations of animals (some from Aotearoa, some from afar and even one that roamed ages ago!), keeping tamariki engage as they complete each puzzle.

Each puzzle is completed by putting together the picture and corresponding word.
