Coral Pendant - Backhouse

Inspired by geometric polyhedra that fascinated designer David from childhood, the Coral Pendant is crafted from a single component repeated 60 times. Originally an experimental form, it became a light when a bulb was placed inside—David’s first lighting design, now a modern classic.

Available in six sizes (400–1600mm diameter), the Coral Pendant is made from bamboo plywood and offered in a range of colors, painted on one or both sides. Shipped as a compact kitset—on average 1/30th the volume of the assembled light—this approach minimizes shipping impact and reduces the design’s environmental footprint. Each kit includes instructions, spare pieces, 2–3m flex, and bulb holder (bulb and ceiling rose not included).
