- Lake Hāwea, a place of vivid beauty and rugged mountainous extremes, is an outdoor adventurer’s paradise in the Otago region of New Zealand. Just a scenic 15-minute drive from Wānaka and on the road to Makarora and the West Coast, Lake Hāwea offers a stunning setting for a variety of outdoor activities or simply relaxing on its serene beaches.

Named after a Māori tribe that preceded the Waitaha people, Lake Hāwea stretches 35 km from north to south, offering endless scenic vistas. The lake, New Zealand's ninth largest, is situated at an altitude of 348 meters and spans an area of 141 km², reaching depths of 392 meters. Its legendary fishing spots and dramatic landscapes make it a must-visit destination.
