Before You Train — Setup Guide
Airway
- Select a fresh or cleaned airway module from your stock
- Apply water-based lubricant to the module and to all instruments — laryngoscope blade, ETT, and supraglottic airway
- Insert the module using the included airway applicator (spoon tool)
- Replace the airway module when cleaning is required or between heavy sessions
Umbilical System
- Fill the internal fluid reservoir with up to 10 mL of water-based fluid — coloured fluid is fine
- Insert the umbilical cord approximately 2 cm into the port
- Confirm patency with a gentle aspiration before the session begins
- After use: flush all lines with warm water, follow with isopropyl alcohol (70% or below), and allow to air dry completely
IO Bones
- Roll down the leg skin sleeve and insert a tibia bone insert before the session
- Each insert supports up to 4 drilling attempts — roll the sleeve down, swap the bone, and continue without resetting
Training Capabilities
Baby SIMira supports the full procedural scope of neonatal life support training. Compatible with Newborn Life Support (NLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and the neonatal modules of Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) programmes.

- Airway management — oral and nasal intubation using ETT 3.0 cuffed or 3.5 uncuffed, and LMA size 1 Classic or I-gel
- Bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation — visible chest rise with bilateral air entry confirmed by stethoscope
- T-piece resuscitation (NeoPuff) — realistic chest response to positive pressure ventilation
- Umbilical vein catheterisation (UVC) — single anatomical vein, positionable cephalad for correct depth placement per NBLS/NRP guidelines
- Umbilical artery catheterisation (UAC) — two identifiable arteries for anatomical realism
- Intraosseous (IO) access — anatomically correct proximal tibia insertion using 18–22G IO needles with replaceable bone cores
- Neonatal CPR — two-finger technique and two-thumb encircling technique, designed for the standard 3:1 compression-to-ventilation ratio
