Persimmon Soap
Persimmon soap made with whole persimmon fruit to help combat musky body odour. Persimmon soap originally came from Japan where it became popular as a deodorising soap for 'old person' smell.
The science behind 'old person' smell is that after age 40, the body has reduced skin antioxidant ability, which means fats in the skin start to oxidise and release the compound 2-nonenal, which has a greasy or musky odour.
Persimmon soap is said to contain tannins which can neutralise the nonenal odour. Nonenal can build up behind the ears and neck, so it is important to wash thoroughly in these areas. Persimmon soap will temporarily neutralise the odour, but won't cure the root cause of the odour so regular use is recommended.
This soap is made with olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and castor oil. It contains whole persimmon fruit puree as a 100% water replacement. It has a great lather due to the natural sugars in the persimmon.
