Domaine Des Roches Neuves Outre Terre 2023
The unadorned purity of Cabernet Franc at it's best. This has density with restraint. It's got those cedary Cab Franc notes, with plum, violets and earthy notes. The palate is svelte with mineral drive. Fermented on skins for 4 months in Georgian amphora, it was them aged for a further 12 months in oak foudre.
As the owner and winemaker of Domaine des Roches Neuves, Thierry Germain has elevated the estate, which dates back to 1850, to one of the finest in France since his acquisition in 1991. Thierry work makes the Michel Tolmers art work on his wine labels even more incredible as it encapulates perfectly Thierrys impact as a leader in biodynamics. At Roches Neuves in Saumur, the commitment to Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc has made him a standout in the wine world. His Cabernet showcases fruit purity and finesse, steering clear of rusticity. While the Chenin Blanc's are bone dry, mineral-rich and age gracefully. Roches Neuves stands as a beacon of achievement in French biodynamic vine growing, earning Thierry a place among the greats.
