The Wrekin Vineyard La Carbonique Pinot Noir 2025
An absolute joy, this is estate grown Pinot Noir, fermented with carbonic maceration for 2 weeks, before basket pressing. It’s so vibrant with sweet ripe Pinot Noir aromatics. The palate is silky, supple finishing with crunchy freshness. Think great Cru Beaujolais.
Dedicated to growing high quality, organic Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, Jan and Andrew Johns started planting vines at the top of the Brancott Valley, Marlborough in 2002. Now with 17 hectares planted, The Wrekin is a family affair, with daughter Anna and her partner Andy returning from overseas to work at the estate. The fruit goes into the hands of some of the region's most exciting producers, like Ashleigh Barrowman and Deep Down. But the small quantities of wine produced under the family’s own Wrekin label are made by Hätsch Kalberer (formerly of Fromm) and Margaux Demalle.
