UPF Mesh Detachable

NEW PRODUCT! We're very excited to introduce our latest rug, the UPF50 Mesh Detachable. These rugs have been constructed of the highest materials, including the highest UPF factor fabric on the market.

The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of this mesh horse rug is 50. This rating indicates how much UV radiation can penetrate the fabric and reach the horse's skin. UPF 50 blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays and allows only two percent (1/50th) to penetrate, reducing the horse's exposure risk significantly.

A UPF of 30 to 49 provides very good protection, while a UPF of 50 is rated as excellent. To provide some perspective, the Skin Cancer Foundation says only clothing with ratings of UPF 30 or higher gets their Seal of Recommendation.

Note: UPF differs from SPF in that it measures both UVB and UVA rays that can penetrate the fabric, while SPF only measures UVB rays.
