The Californian worship singer's tenth LP, Song of the Saints, features more of the same contemporary pop anthems that Phil Wickham's fans have come to know and love. Euphoric and uplifting, this church-ready set soars atop stadium-sized production that echoes secular pop hitmakers like OneRepublic and Ed Sheeran. Even though much of it is very familiar, it doesn't dull the effect. The motivational "Homesick for Heaven," the rocking "The King Is in the Room," and the sweeping "Song of the Saints" are highlights, while "What an Awesome God" takes the Rich Mullins standard and blasts it into the stratosphere atop modernized production and a shiver-inducing backing choir. Debuting just outside the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, Song of the Saints was also Wickham's seventh U.S. Christian chart Top Three.
