Located on China’s Loess Plateau in Shanxi Province, Chateau Rongzi sits at elevations of around 1,100 metres where intense sunlight and large day-night temperature swings create ideal conditions for balanced, aromatic wines. Founded in 2007 by Zhang Wenquan, the estate has gained international recognition under the consultancy of Jean-Claude Berrouet, the legendary former winemaker of Chteau Pétrus. With meticulous vineyard management, hand harvesting and careful maturation in French oak barrels, the winery crafts refined Bordeaux-inspired blends that reveal the growing sophistication of China’s emerging fine wine regions. Special Features

Petit Blue Label reflects the remarkable conditions of high-altitude viticulture on the Loess Plateau. Vineyards sit around 1,100 metres above sea level where strong sunlight and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts build aromatic intensity while preserving freshness. To survive the harsh Siberian winters, every vine must be carefully buried beneath the soil by hand and uncovered again each spring—an extraordinary labour-intensive practice unique to northern Chinese vineyards. The wine is crafted under the guidance of Jean-Claude Berrouet using Bordeaux varietals and matured for around 12 months in French oak barrels, delivering silky tannins, elegant structure and impressive purity of fruit.
