Half Kantha Dohar Quilt - Emerald Grove / Blue Iris - One of a Kind

Worked entirely by hand, this quilt is stitched through layers using rows of running stitch drawn across the full surface - the defining mark of the kantha tradition. The front is an upcycled underprint in emerald grove - a vivid, dense, all-over impressionist botanical surface where vivid lime green and yellow-green dominate, threaded through with teal-blue, mid-blue and sage green, with scattered coral-red and dusty rose marks blooming through the layers. The effect is immersive and alive - like standing inside a Monet garden, the colours bleeding and overlapping from 8 to 12 rounds of hand woodblock printing across a month of production. No two printings land the same way twice; this piece is entirely unrepeatable. Edition of one. The edges are finished with a fine hand blanket stitch in iris blue thread - small, precise, and quietly present.

The reverse is a wide-width blue iris linen-cotton blend - deep, inky and moody - with the kantha running stitch visible on both sides, tracing the same quiet rhythm across the cloth.
