Half Kantha Dohar Quilt - Indigo Grid / Blue Iris - Limited Edition of 2
Worked entirely by hand, this quilt is stitched through layers using rows of running stitch drawn across the full surface - the defining mark of the kantha tradition. The front is an upcycled underprint in indigo grid - a bold geometric lattice of overlapping indigo and deep blue diamond and grid forms printed across the surface, layered over a complex ground of terracotta, burnt orange, dusty rose and sage green from 8 to 12 rounds of hand woodblock printing across a month of production. The geometry is strong and deliberate; the colour beneath it warm and haphazard - the two in quiet tension across the cloth. No two printings land the same way twice; each piece in this edition is entirely unrepeatable. Limited edition of 2. The edges are finished with a fine hand blanket stitch - small, precise, and quietly present.
The reverse is a wide-width blue iris linen-cotton blend - deep, inky and moody - with the kantha running stitch visible on both sides, tracing the same quiet rhythm across the cloth.
