Why biodegradable plastics are eco-friendly?

After biodegradable plastics are buried in the soil, they can be eaten by microorganisms from nature, which only take 1 - 2 years to degrade into pieces completely. They will synthesise carbon dioxide and water. The whole degrading process is only about 1/100 of ordinary garbage bags!
