Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish

The , also called the Hi Fin Perchlet, is a rare find from the rubble zones of Cebu. Although this species belongs to the Anthiinae subfamily alongside many Anthias, it falls under the genus Plectranthias and more closely resembles hawkfishes. These fish have elongated bodies with a pronounced third dorsal spine featuring a banner-like flap, mottled orange-and-white coloration, and captivating green eyes. They feed on zooplankton in the wild and make an excellent addition to a reef aquarium.

In their natural habitat, inhabit rubble zones and are often found near plate corals (Fungia sp.). They thrive in a saltwater aquarium of at least 20 gallons equipped with ample live rock for hiding and foraging. However, they may exhibit aggression toward other bottom-dwelling fish, such as gobies and blennies.

These fish mainly consume zooplankton and should be offered a varied diet of meaty foods in captivity, including vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and small pieces of shrimp or fish
