Twin Spot Wrasse
The (Coris aygula), also known as the Clown Coris, is a captivating species that undergoes one of the most dramatic color transformations in the marine aquarium world. Juveniles are particularly eye-catching, with a crisp white body, bold red markings, and the distinctive pair of black “twin spots" on the dorsal fin. As they mature, they grow significantly larger and shift into darker, more subdued coloration, offering aquarists the unique experience of watching a fish evolve through striking life stages.
To thrive, the requires a large aquarium of at least 500 liters with open swimming space and a deep sandy substrate, as it buries itself at night or when startled. They are active, intelligent, and require a meaty diet including mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, and high-quality carnivore preparations. Hardy once established, this species can grow to more than 35 cm in length, making it a centerpiece for experienced aquarists with spacious marine systems.
