Waiheke Whisky Dyad Quartet Single Malt Whisky 700ml
Waiheke Whisky Dyad Quartet is a seriously ambitious single malt and one that has no right to work as well as it does. Four very different wine casks come together in one whisky, and somehow the result is seamless, rich and beautifully composed. With fewer than 250 bottles produced, this is a genuinely rare release and Head Distiller Patrick’s most complete expression of his wine and whisky making craft to date.
Double distilled from New Zealand distillers malt and aged for at least seven years, Quartet is matured across Chardonnay, Port, Apera and Muscat casks before being carefully married into a single 200 litre cask. Each barrel brings something distinctive to the table. Port delivers depth and dark fruit richness, Apera adds nutty elegance and spice, Chardonnay softens the edges with creamy texture, and Muscat lifts the whole thing with sweet, floral warmth. The result is indulgent but balanced, complex without feeling heavy, and quietly confident in its own uniqueness.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with sweet florals layered with spice and red fruits, followed by soft caramel and vanilla. On the palate it is dense and luxurious, showing Christmas cake, cloves, cinnamon and dried fruits with a bold yet refined sweetness. The finish is long and warming, lingering with spiced fruit, caramel and a gentle oak dryness that keeps everything in check.
