Path to Long Bay Original

Path to Long Bay captures the brilliant light of long summer days. Ultramarine underpainting is used to bring vibrancy to the oil paints, accentuating the depth of the dense bush surrounding our coastline.

This artwork offers comfort in the familiarity of a typical New Zealand landscape - the cascading hydrangeas, the powerline, the bright orange road sign. However, the grass path trails off to a hidden beach, backed by densely covered hills, inviting the viewer to contemplate where this landscape may lead them.

Painted with oil paint & oil pastels on canvas. This is the original artwork, measuring 61x61cm with 1cm depth. Sides of the canvas are painted a deep indigo which compliments the painting.
