2019 Monte Dall`Ora 'San Giorgio Alto' Valpolicella Classico

A high-altitude Valpolicella Classico from San Giorgio di Valpolicella, one of the highest and coolest villages in the appellation, perched above Lake Garda. The vineyard sits at around 500 metres, southwest-facing and surrounded by forest, where altitude, wind and limestone soils bring notable freshness and fine structure to the wine.

Farmed biodynamically and made with minimal intervention, San Giorgio Alto shows all the hallmarks of good Valpolicella - bright red cherry and plum, baking spice, woody herbs and a clean, mineral finish. It’s poised and precise, with enough structure to age, but lifted and very fresh.

Compared to the same producer's lower-lying Camporenzo , San Giorgio Alto is the fresher, more finely structured expression of the two - and a clear illustration of just how much site can shape the style of Valpolicella Classico.
