Overview: Ylang ylang essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the flowers of Cananga Odorata. Ylang is native to Southeast Asia and is widely cultivated in Madagascar. Popularly known as the queen of perfumes, Ylang is one of the most extensively used natural ingredients in the perfume industry. Ylang is distilled in fractions. The distillation process is stopped on different stages to take different grades of the essential oil. In effect, there are five different types of ylang oil produced during the process.
