WHAT WE LOVE:

The Minase Divido is a striking example of independent Japanese watchmaking at its most refined — and this grey dial version (Ref. VM04-M08SB) is a true standout. Made in limited quantities by a small atelier in the snowy mountains of Akita Prefecture, the Divido blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modernist case architecture.

Its defining feature is the case-in-case construction — where the dial appears to float within the polished steel case, accentuated by a sculptural interplay of brushed and Zaratsu-polished surfaces. The grey dial is finished with vertical brushing and chamfered edges, allowing light to play across the surface in subtle, shifting tones.

WHAT'S INSIDE:

At its heart is the Caliber KT7001/1, based on the ETA 2892-A2 and extensively modified and decorated in-house by Minase. The movement features perlage, Geneva stripes, hand polishing, and a skeletonised rotor. While based on a Swiss base calibre, the finishing and aesthetic are unmistakably Japanese in their restraint and care.
