The Strange Girls, the long‑running, on‑again off‑again project of Clayton Noone, Kaaterama “Motty" Morehu, and Jon Arcus existed in various forms from 1999 right up until Motty’s passing in 2019. What began as a loose Dunedin constellation of friends, noise experiments and late‑night jams slowly built into something beautifully strange. Beset is the result of Motty and Clayton’s final recording sessions together: a collection of songs that drift between lo‑fi folk and soft‑edged experimentalism.
