Mid-Century Vallauris Ceramic Serving Plate | Ochre Glaze, Scalloped Edge (c.1950–70)

French Vallauris serving plate in a rich ochre glaze with a soft scalloped edge.

The glaze has natural movement and depth, giving it warmth and character that reads immediately European.

Best used as a serving piece or styled on open shelving where the colour can do the work.

A mid-century ceramic serving plate from Vallauris, a town in the south of France known for its pottery workshops.

The form is simple but considered — a wide, shallow plate with a gently shaped edge. The glaze shows tonal variation from honey to deeper amber, developed during firing.

Stamped to the base is Vallauris

There is a lightly visible hairline crack, consistent with age and use. This does not detract from its decorative value but is reflected in the price.
