Rātā Keeper — Harakeke (Phormium tenax)

Rātā is a New Zealand native hardwood valued for its rich colour, fine grain, and remarkable density. The bronze finial is cast directly from a Harakeke (Phormium tenax) seed pod, a native New Zealand plant deeply connected to the cultural heritage of Aotearoa.

Note: As most New Zealand native timber is not available as newly harvested material, Jennifer uses recovered native timbers in her work.
