For sowing: For early crops, raise seeds in pots filled with fine seed-raising mix in a warm, well-lit, protected position. Transplant after 2–4 weeks. For direct sowing, press 3–4 seeds into the centre of a shallow depression on top of a raised mound of moist soil spaced 70cm apart. Thin seedlings to the two strongest plants.
For growing on: Grow in a sunny, well-drained position. Prepare soil with compost and organic matter before planting. Water regularly at the base of the plant and harvest fruit when young and tender to encourage continuous production. Includes:
