Oval Bloodstone Signet Ring — Edition of One
A cast sterling silver signet ring set with a 16×12mm oval bloodstone cabochon, the face sitting across the finger in landscape orientation. Built up in wax and cast in our Mt Eden studio, Auckland — a process that leaves an organic, rippled surface carrying the full memory of its making. The stone is hand-set. This is an Edition of One in size U: a single ring, not repeated. If you'd like a similar ring in your size, get in touch — I work to order from the wax stage.
Bloodstone is a dark green chalcedony, the traditional birthstone for March, long associated with courage, vitality, and grounding. This stone has a deep forest-green base with small, subtle red flecks — quieter than most bloodstones, which suits the character of the ring. The bezel is chunky and substantial, with none of the sleek clean lines of a conventional setting. The band ripples where the wax was built up; the surface holds the marks of making, deliberately preserved rather than filed back. This is rustic fine jewellery in the truest sense — made with intention, finished with honesty. Key Details

This ring sits firmly in the Organic Tales lineage — surface-led, abstract, shaped by process rather than precision. The oval face across the finger is an unconventional orientation for a signet, which is exactly the point: it wears differently, sits differently, and draws the eye in a way a portrait-orientation signet doesn't. The chunky bezel gives it presence and weight without bulk on the finger.
It pairs naturally with other cast and textured silver pieces — a hammered band, a forged pendant, a simple chain. Equally suited to daily wear or as a piece that marks something significant: a milestone, a birthday, a gift to yourself that means something.
