Large 1.3m Oversize Pair of Matchstick Artworks by Liz McAuliffe (26088)

A set of two (very large, oversize!) carved matchsticks in various states of combustion..These are very much larger than life, person-sized, 1.35m tall Much larger than any of the other sets, at this scale they're very rare.

These artworks have created and finished so that they can even be installed outdoors if you wish.

Outdoor – exterior enamels on carved tanalised pine. Enamels are wipeable. Wood can have slight movement i n some exterior conditions.

Ageing, imperfections and movement are to be celebrated.

About her Matchstick series, artist Liz McAuliffe writes:

"With the massive upscaling of the ubiquitous matchstick I invite the viewer to re-evaluate their relationship to these objects which are used daily by millions of people. I toy with the venerated practice of including a matchbox in photographs to give the viewer a safe and recognisable base-point for scale within an image. With no other object to compare with, this work undermines that safety."
