The Glute Ham Developer (better known as the GHD) is a mainstay of assistance work for strength athletes wanting to develop the posterior chain (gluteus and hamstrings in particular).
Large stationary kneepads providing comfortable support for the thighs and kneecaps, and the GHD is fully adjustable to allow lifters and athletes of different body shapes to use, and to allow various angles and positions to target the posterior chain more effectively.

GHDs are used for assistance work including: glute-ham raises, reverse hyper extensions and also for extended abdominal work (variations of roman chair sit-ups and leg raises). GHDs are often one of the few "machines" that you will see in hardcore lifting gyms and pits.
