All natural, pleasant tasting blend of three well-researched ingredients:

- MunoGEN contains a heat-killed gram-positive microbe, Lactobacillus plantarum which is known as HKL-137. Lactobacillus plantarum is a well-known probiotic micro-organism that is found in cultured dairy foods such as kefir and in pickled vegetables such as sauerkraut and kimchi.
- The immune-enhancing action of MunoGEN is supported by arabinogalactans derived from the bark of the Larch tree. Larch arabinogalactans have been well-researched for their content of unique polysaccharides.
- Pomegranate is a popular fruit in the Mediterranean countries and is valued for its anti-bacterial properties and delicious flavour. Research has shown that it has the ability to favourably influence the microbiota of the oral cavity and supports the role of HKL-137 in periodontal health.

HKL-137:

- The cell wall of L.plantarum and other gram positive microbes contains a molecule called lipoteichoic acid (LTA). LTA activates the signalling pathways that regulate the integrity of tight junctions and the gut epithelial barrier, and readily binds to the Toll-like receptor, TLR2 on the surface of the gut epithelium.
- As a TLR2 agonist, HKL-137 is also anti-inflammatory and demonstrates anti-viral effects as a potent IFN-β inducer. Because it also has the ability to enhance production of Natural Killer cells, its known anti-viral effects extend well past its effect on bacteria, fungi and parasites.
- The Japanese research on HKL-137 has already demonstrated impressive immune modulation in several clinical trials250. Essentially, HKL-137 studies have shown benefits in reducing the frequency of colds and ‘flus, reduction of allergic responses, improvement in periodontal disease as well as in skin health, wound repair, quality of life and reduction in fatigue.
- Compared with other immune-enhancing probiotic organisms, HKL-137 was shown to exhibit superior immune-stimulating activity with a high safety profile.

Larch Arabinogalactans:

- The immune-stimulating polysaccharides from Larch Arabinogalactans provide nutrition for the microbiota, generating butyrate and other short-chain fatty acids that are the primary ‘fuel’ required by the colonocytes.
- Several clinical trials show that Larch Arabinogalactans at a dose of 4.5 grams daily demonstrate specific immune-enhancing properties in their own right. In one trial in humans, Larch Arabinogalactans were shown to decrease the incidence of cold episodes by 23%, this was thought to be due to T cell-dependent mechanisms.

Pomegranate Juice Powder:

- A clinical trial demonstrated beneficial changes to the gut microflora in 20 healthy adults consuming 1000 mg daily of a pomegranate extract.
- A study using pomegranate juice swilled for a minute in the mouth before swallowing showed antibacterial activity against selected plaque-forming microorganisms.
- A similar study on 30 adults concluded that pomegranate mouth rinse should be explored as a long-term antiplaque rinse with prophylactic benefits.
