Unframed Print - Layers of Quiet, Naseby

This photographic collage grew out of time spent really looking at the snow after a significant fall in the Naseby area. Once the weather settles, the landscape becomes a series of gentle bands — soft drifts, compacted snow, exposed grasses, and the muted sky above. I was drawn to how each layer carries a slightly different texture and weight, shaped by wind, time, and gravity rather than by anything deliberate.

The work comes from slowing right down and paying attention to those small variations that are easy to overlook. In part, it was inspired by the way artisit Bill Sutton observed and simplified the land, but the focus here is on the quiet aftermath of snowfall - when the drama has passed and the land is left resting, layered and still.
