Running with a black dog on a black sand beach is a photo book about the feeling of being alone (with a dog) on a beach. The book is influenced by Hiroshi Sugimoto's book On the Beach from the 90s which was set on a similar black sand beach of Aotearoa. This book takes the metaphor a black dog and sets a particular tone which is synonymous with a west coast black sand beach.
