Tropical Frangipani 'Fruit Salad'
Plumeria rubra 'Fruit Salad' is one of the most spectacular Frangipanis. Its heavenly-scented flowers are a blend of pink and orange-yellow, softly washing together to create alluring, sunset-toned blooms.
The flowers will open in abundance from December right through to April, filling your garden with tropical colour and perfume. In hotter climates, the colouring intensifies for an even richer display. Fruit Salad flourishes in large pots, raised garden beds, or mounded soil where drainage may be an issue.
Believe it or not, the photos of the flowers here are all from plants grown from cuttings off the same mother plant. The differences in colour come about from differences in light exposure and other variations in seasonal conditions. But all are beautiful!
Globally known varieties of Frangipani like Fruit Salad are quite rare in NZ, and very sought-after with just a small number becoming available to a few lucky collectors each summer.
