Tropical Frangipani 'Penang Peach'
Frangipani 'Penang Peach' is a rare, old semi-dwarf variety originally from the island of Penang, Malaysia. The very old trees in Penang grow no more than 1.5 m tall and 2.5m wide, with branches from ground level up. The foliage is beautifully lush and very dense.
It produces prolific numbers of big, beautiful yellow-orange-apricot-coloured flowers in large bunches.
Because of its relatively compact, low-spreading habit and its large and numerous flowers it is a flower picker's dream and very often used in lei making.
The distinctly peachy fragrance is very sweet with an excellent keeping quality. Globally known varieties of Frangipani like Penang Peach are quite rare in NZ, and very sought-after with just a small number becoming available to a few lucky collectors each summer.
