Chinese Ginger

This is the Ginger plant whose rhizome (root) is widely used around the world for cooking, flavouring and medicine. Often called this is like the stuff you buy at the supermarkets, but in fact it grows perfectly well outside in NZ, especially in part-shade and given plenty of water.
