The Roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is known by many names: Roselle, Rosella, Zobo, Gongura, Karkadeh, and many others. Originally from Africa it is now found around the world, especially in Asia and the Caribbean.
It has a wide range of uses; nutritional, medicinal and culinary but is arguably best known for the various drinks that are made from its dried calyces (parts of the flower). Every tropical country seems to have its own variation of Hibiscus Tea whether served cool and sweet or hot and herbal, Roselle flowers are a staple flavouring in the tropics.
