Dinosaur Print Plant

Really attractive clumping plant grown for its large glossy, tropical foliage. Equally good on its own as a potted indoor houseplant or mass planted outdoors as leafy tropical filler for your garden. For the dark green glossy leaves to look their best it ought to be planted in at least part-shade. It will grow in full sun but the leaves will curl and yellow a little.
It grows to around a metre or more and once established is robust enough to be cut back fairly brutally to keep it in check. An under-rated and under-used plant in NZ, Ctenanthe compressa should be a no brainer for the tropical garden.
Ctenanthe is pronounced 'te-NANTH-ee' (the C is silent).
