SEED - Sarracenia minor var. okefenokeensis - Hooded Pitcher Plant - 10+ Per Packet

Sarracenia minor var. okefenokeensis is a species of American Pitcher Plant that is primarily found in bogs throughout northern Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. This plant is known for its unique domed hood, which uses light to disorient its prey. The okeefenokensis variety can be found in the Okeefenokee swamp region of southern Georgia, where it tends to grow larger than other varieties. These plants are commonly found floating on mats of live sphagnum moss.

Sowing instructions:

- Sow on top of growing media, either peat of sphagnum can be used.
- Ensure good airflow too prevent mould growing on the surface of the media.
- Keep pot in bright lights to full sun.
- Once you have sowed the seed place the pot in a zip-lock bag in the fridge for 3 months to simulate winter to ensure best germination results.
- If the pot is ready before spring ensure the pot stays warm (like in the house) through Autumn and Winter to ensure you don't lose your seedling before they establish themselves as plants.
- Keep the pot standing in water at all times so the seed/seedling don't dry out.
- Harvested 2025

Pictures are of the parent plants to show you what they can grow into.
