Te Poutokomanawa o te Wairua - Ka Hikitia

 
The second picture in the Uetia Collection, represents Wairuatanga and the balance of the Taha Wairua. In the middle of the piece, there is a cross-symbolizing balance between Tangaroa and Tāne. The four sides of the whare are represented in terms of Te Whare Tapa Whā, as well as the whakapapa of tikanga, which includes kaupapa, mauri, kawa, and tikanga. Clarity over kaupapa provides purpose, and knowing the purpose gives us reasons for our actions. These reasons help anchor tikanga in the right way. It is easy to establish tikanga when we understand the kaupapa, possess the mauri, and recognise the kawa or reasons for these.
