Goldenrod is a beautiful, long-lived perennial that deserves a place in every herb garden, cottage garden, wildflower meadow, or food forest. From mid to late summer it produces masses of brilliant golden-yellow flower spikes that sway above the foliage, creating a spectacular display while attracting bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and many other beneficial insects. It is one of the best late-season nectar plants for pollinators and adds valuable colour to the garden when many other flowers have finished.

Growing to around 60–70 cm tall, European goldenrod is easy to grow, highly adaptable, and reliably year after year.
