Multiplying Perennial Leeks

 

We love those leeks as they are easy to grow, need little care and attention and are very giving. They come into full production over winter and produce well into spring when our winter leek crop is finished for the year.

You will get a starter clump with 3-4 small bare rooted leeks like in the image below.

The below photo shows healthy spring growth. It was taken in October. At this stage they are ready to divide and harvest the fatter ones.
Growing Conditions
Perennial leeks are similar in appearance to garlic, with flat grey-green leaves. These leeks are perennial and multiplying. A very useful plant that is extremely hardy and pest resistant. They grow well from the subtropics to cool temperate areas and tolerate frost. They do best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade.
