Seed Yams

After your first growing season, simply select the healthiest and best-performing tubers to replant the following spring. With a little care, you'll have your own ongoing supply of seed yams and won't need to buy planting stock again.

We've found these yams to be exceptionally productive and excellent keepers. Stored in a cool, dark place, they keep well through winter and into late spring, helping to bridge the traditional "hungry gap" before many new crops are ready to harvest. They're a fantastic staple crop for anyone aiming for greater self-sufficiency.

These yams have been lovingly grown by our 11-year-old daughter, Julia, who harvested a bumper crop of healthy, vigorous tubers this season. Every purchase supports her growing passion for gardening and food production.

Planting

Yams are grown in much the same way as potatoes, although they tolerate partial shade better and often perform well beneath taller crops or around the edges of a food forest.
