Natal Queen or Rough Common Pineapple is the best eating variety found in New Zealand. It has golden yellow flesh, crisp texture and delicate mild flavour. It is a tropical plant, but will grow well in a greenhouse or in frost free areas of NZ. If there is a risk of frosts, then it is best to cover with frost cloth in the winter.
