A curious kea strikes a pose at Sealy Tarn in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.

The kea’s level of intelligence matches that of a six year old child. It’s that same child-like curiosity that enables us to have these special encounters.

It was a joy to shoot this inquisitive character, its pounamu-green feathers ruffling in the breeze as it hopped from rock to rock.
