Calycanthus Hartlage Wine – Magnolia Grove

This is an interesting deciduous shrub with rich green, slightly glossy leaves and interesting magnolia-like flowers from early to mid summer on the tips of short spurs with the new growth. The flowers are a rich maroon-red-brown colour, actually much richer than pictured.
The bush requires at least half a day full sun and does best with cool roots and good drainage. It will grow to 2.5m, and may be trimmed after flowering, in mid December.Â
