Pikorua - Twist

This Taonga is a Pikorua - or a Twist.

These Taonga are not a customary form - and to my knowledge, have not been found associated with Māoridom - potentially entering this space with the coming of the Lapidary arts.

The Twist has come to symbolize eternity, longevity, and so on - given the looping, endless nature of the piece. This Taonga displays some of the brilliant qualities of Nephrite Jade - 2 of which being it's strength, and it's translucency!

This Taonga has been carved from a beautiful piece of SouthWestland Pounamu, from here in Aotearoa, NZ.
