These are a lower grade stainless when compared to SS304, 409 has a lower chromium and nickle content, 409 stainless steel can be almost 90% iron. This means a magnet will stick to it. It will also develop surface corrosion/rust over time, especially after being exposed to heat.

These mufflers are MIG welded, with standard ER70 MIG wire, not stainless
